Q: Are you really non-profit? How come I've seen advertising for your site?
A: 70% of our site run costs come from our own back-pocket the rest is helped by generous donations and "kick-backs" from our members. We are fortunate enough to house two web technicans on our team who maintain and produce design work for BirdTrade for next to nothing.
Q: Why do you provide this classified service without any financial incentive?
A: As the old adage goes "you don't get something for nothing". We like to think we are the exception. After trawling the Internet finding fees for most classified advertising, be it hidden phone charges to registration fees to things as crazy as not allowing you to contact the advertiser without some form of credit. We decided enough was enough and BirdTrade was born, our aim is to offer bird owners a service that they can use freely and choose to donate to the running of the site. With hundreds of birds being bought and sold on BirdTrade we figured members would appreciate not having any additional outgoing costs to sell their beloved birds.
